Domestic Service!

Because who are any of us kidding, go back in time 100 years and it’s not likely you’re going to be Lord o’ the Manor.  Most of us would have been the maid, maybe the gardener, maybe that one guy who knows a lot about horses and shovels poop.  As much as I like kings and queens, it’s the common person’s story that really appeals, since my family tree lets me know I’m not coming from a long line of Fancy Pantses.

This documentary mentions the best old-timey club name, the “Church of England Waifs and Strays Society.”  Sign me up.
