D is for deformed

Some medieval decorators were born with a pen in their hand, others never got it right. Thumbing through the medieval book you encounter places like this: an empty page used by scribes or decorators for practicing their skills. I feel sorry for this guy, who tried to make a flowery letter D but ended up with oddly-shaped, deformed creations - including, at the bottom, a human brain. However, I also admire his zest and perseverance: an artist with pluck, albeit without skills.
