Wow! A couple of things!

First, is is going to take a shit in that lamp(?) - inquiring minds want to know!  We’re not getting a view of his ass for nothing, I suppose!  The detail of excess on that one figure is totally amazing.  Bloody daggers behind his back!  It’s funny but it is also the worst likeness of Robespierre I’ve ever seen, back to portraiture school for you.

Next - the guillotine is far away and so to hammer the point home they’ve drawn a crown on the blade, so we know for sure it’s the king.  Like a bad modern political cartoon almost!  IT IS THE KING YOU SEE

They must have to throw away the Crown Guillotine when they’re done with Louis, you can’t just use it on any old Girondist, what a faux-pas.

I like the conversation people are having about this striking image, but yowzers, that user @Lammont (is that how you do it on tumblr?) was totally ripping into Kate Beaton for no reason. And swearing aggressively at her. Beaton asked some questions and poked fun at political cartoons - she did not attack the image in the way she was painted as having done. Lammont had some interesting things to say, and it’s a shame those comments were presented so rudely.

I sure hope I misunderstood that whole thing and none of that was how it really was (and if that’s true I GLADLY apologize).

haha aw no, it’s just the tumblr jumble!  I was cracking jokes off the cuff about the picture because it’s totally amazing and it cracked me up when I was going through what gunsandposes had posted.  I know the guy has no pants because he’s a sans-culotte and I sure don’t actually think he’s supposed to be the immaculately dressed Robespierre.  A fan of Gillray as you can see here!  If you wanted to, you can find out all the facts about this illustration lickety split because, google.  

But hey, if it ain’t clear that I’m kidding and I need to write better jokes then I need to write better jokes, in the end no harm done.  You can’t expect everyone to like what you say all the time, that’s just how it goes.  Anyway, I like riffing on stuff for fun and if someone doesn’t like that or if I’m miserable at it then all that’s ok too.  I do regret comparing it to a “bad” modern political cartoon though because, come on, it’s Gillray.  The tiny crown!  I couldn’t resist commentary.  Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Thanks for your call for courtesy though, I thought it was classy and I wanted to answer it!  I should enable that Ask Me thing I see other people posting, it’s a little weird to repost this whole thing?  Maybe it’s not.  I am clearly not a tumblr expert.
